Prescription costs

The current prescription charge is £9.65 per item.

Many patients are exempt from NHS prescription charges due to their age, financial circumstances or medical conditions.  Please check here for a full list of those who are eligible for free prescriptions.

If you are pregnant you should receive a medical exemption form from your midwife.

If you have a recognised medical condition, you can apply for free prescriptions by requesting a medical exemption form (FP92A) from our reception team.

Prepayment certificates

A prescription prepayment certificate (PPC) can save patients money on prescription costs if they have more than one item on prescription each month, or if they are taking hormone replacement therapy:

a 3-month PPC costs £31.25

a 12-month PPC is £111.60

a 12-month PPC for hormone replacement therapy (HRT) only is £19.30
