Flu
Flu vaccination is safe and effective. It’s offered every year through the NHS to help protect people at risk of getting seriously ill from flu.
The NHS website provides information about who can get it, how to book and where to get the vaccine.
INFLUENZA ELIGIBILITY
From 1 September 2025:
- pregnant women
- all children aged 2 or 3 years on 31 August 2025
- primary school aged children (from Reception to Year 6)
- secondary school aged children (from Year 7 to Year 11)
- all children in clinical risk groups aged from 6 months to less than 18 years
From 1 October 2025:
- those aged 65 years and over
- those aged 18 years to under 65 years in clinical risk groups
- those in long-stay residential care homes
- carers in receipt of carer’s allowance, or those who are the main carer of an elderly or disabled person
- close contacts of immunocompromised individuals
- frontline workers in a social care setting without an employer led occupational health scheme including those working for a registered residential care or nursing home, registered domiciliary care providers, voluntary managed hospice providers and those that are employed by those who receive direct payments (personal budgets) or Personal Health budgets, such as Personal Assistants
COVID-19
COVID-19 vaccination is safe and effective. It gives you the best protection against COVID-19.
The NHS website provides information about the vaccination, who can get it, and safety and side effects.
COVID ELIGIBILITY
From 1st October 2025:
- adults aged 75 years and over
- residents in a care home for older adults
- individuals aged 6 months and over who are immunosuppressed (as defined in the ‘immunosuppression’ sections of tables 3 or 4 in the COVID-19 chapter of the Green Book)

Screening tests at the surgery
NHS health checks: all our patients from 40-74 years old are recommended to have an NHS health check every 5 years unless they are having regular reviews for pre-existing conditions. You can request an NHS health check through our online services or speak to reception.
Cervical smear tests: offered to women and people with a cervix aged 25 to 64. Our patients will be contacted through the national screening system when their test is due and can book an appointment via our online services or by phoning our reception team. More information from the NHS website.
National screening services
Breast cancer screening: Female patients between the ages of 50 and 71 will be invited for mammography screening every 3 years. They will be contacted by letter and can book an appointment through the screening service directly. Women over 71 can request screening if they wish. You can contact the local screening service directly if you have missed a screening test or have any queries.
Bowel cancer screening: Patients between the ages of 50-74 will be invited for bowel cancer screening via the national screening service. There is a dedicated bowel cancer screening helpline 0800 707 60 60 for patient queries.
Abdominal aortic aneurysm screening: Screening for AAA is offered to men during the year they turn 65. You can contact your local screening service for enquiries.
